I have gone ahead and got a new iPad 3 to use on the Camino to write my blog and post pictures so I thought I’d better try it out! The onscreen keyboard that I am using at the moment is very simple and easy to use. It took a little bit of getting used to but I am able to touch type already with no problems. I am typing into my blog using the WordPress app that I downloaded for free from the app store, although I believe it is possible to use the website as normal – once the blog is already set up though the app is very straightforward.
My scallop shell arrived yesterday which I will attach to my backpack when I start my journey – so here’s a chance to have a go at uploading a photo or two using the iPad! I ordered my shell from Pilgrim Supplies and it arrived two days later.
I’m very happy with it and the service was very good. If you need a shell for your pilgrimage I can recommend using them.
Although I took and uploaded that picture using my iPad, I would imagine most of my photos will be taken using my normal compact camera. The iPad will be safely tucked away in my backpack most of the time whereas my compact will be attached to the shoulder strap on the pack so that I can get to it easily. With this in mind I wondered how I would get the pictures from the camera to my iPad to be uploaded during my Camino – thankfully those clever dudes at apple have already thought of that!
There are two little white blocks. They plug into the charging point on the iPad (though not at the same time!) and into one you are able to plug your camera’s USB cable, and into the other you can slot the SD card from your camera enabling easy transfer of photos onto the iPad!
Hopefully I will now hit the right buttons and publish this post first time without deleting any of it! My first post from an iPad, the first of many I hope!
